Task 4B feedback

Ben Dean
I found the video to be very helpful in the topic It was related to, I thought that if I saw this video before when I started off playing the game I would of probably gotten a lot further into the game a lot sooner because I was told many new things I never even knew about around that time so it would of definitely got me off with a good head start. So not only was the video very informative it was also spoken out very well and understood everything being said.

Tom Brown
The video was very informative and seemed to of contained a lot of valuable information to those who are struggling starting off playing the game especially upon the first coming days of release. I did however find that the audio in the video was slightly off, I asked why and it was because there was some rendering issues which caused the audio to be slightly noisy and off, other than that I found the video to be very entertaining as well as informative.

Bartek Piatek
Very helpful video, I found that it was also funny at times as there was game play footage going off in the background to stop the viewer getting bored at the same time and have something to watch whilst concentrating on what is trying to be said at the same time which is a very clever technique.

Joe Williams
Being a GTA player myself I found the video to be very helpful, I actually learnt a few things whilst watching this like aiming the gun and shooting the bottles to make the clerk in the shop more scared to allow him to gather the money faster was a very helpful tip and I’m going to be using it in-game next time so very helpful.

From the feedback I have gathered from my peers I understand that this sort of feedback is very important to me in the success of my future videos, this is because it tells me where I have gone wrong in some places and what I need to improve upon, also listening to suggestions and requests as responding to your consumers is a very logical thing to do in business as you need to keep your customers happy. I now understand that this feedback is going to help me push towards better goals. From the feedback I've gathered that some say that the audio needs to be improved, I knew this from the start but now I know it’s even more important to get that sorted as other people have noticed and it’s causing some concern which is something I don’t want as I don’t wish to withdraw customers away from my product.

Feedback is very important in my opinion, i find that it helps me understand the subject that's being studied and gives me a clear guidance on how to improve even more, it aids to predict the future and what needs to be done in order to achieve the goals i wish to push myself towards, it also helps me develop my personal abilities and know my weaknesses and strengths.

Task 2

Narrative

My game review report will consist of many different narrative forms, the reason there isn't just one is because I’m going to give a brief description of many different things incorporated into my game report which will expand different narrative forms. Narrative forms such as “news” which will give detailed information on the current events, which is presented by, broadcast, Internet and word of mouth, this will be my main one as I’m doing my report through a video report, which will be then broadcast-ed onto the web. Biography will also take place as I give a detailed description of the in-game characters lives and their background history and the importance of the character in the game.
Autobiography will also be incorporated as a form of narrative in my game report as I’ll reveal some description of my own life during the game walk-through and share jokes with viewers keeping them entertained and more likely to watch the next video reports.  These different forms of narratives will make sure to attract an audience that are frequent players of the game grand theft auto or beginners seeking for advice on how to play or start off in the game which is why my video report is very useful as it contains all the guidance needed from a frequent experienced GTA 5 player. This narrative will hopefully target my audience in a way I intended to do so, expressing the ways to do certain activities to earn money in the game that aren't boring and daunting will attract a much larger audience because let’s face it, nobody likes to do something that’s not entertaining so you get the best of both worlds.

·         Genre: Once the audience knows what genre your report is, what kind of things will they expect to see in it? How can you use these expectations to target your desired audience?

As the audience has settled in with my video report and they understand what genre it’s targeting (which is both male and female) they will expect certain things in my report such as a detailed description of a walkthrough which will show them guidance from a very experienced players point of view, I’ll explain the steps to take in order to obtain in-game currency through simple tasks such as completing missions and looting from gang attacks.

The audience will expect to see certain methods to earn cash in-game, things such as robbing liquor stores, gas stations and stealing cars and re-selling them, I've also included a method of killing players for money as well because the majority of people in-game like the idea of player killing so I’m hoping by including this method I can also grab another larger audience from the game. I've researched into most of the Grand Theft Auto 5 reports and tutorials on YouTube and the majority of them are hunting players and killing them, I’ve noticed that a large audience like to do this as its fun and competitive, so this is why I’m going to include this method into my game to attract a larger audience to my videos.

Technical codes How will you use editing, sound, lighting and camera shots and movements to target your desired audience?

The video editing won’t be over dramatic, because it doesn't need to be. It’s a video report and I’m going to stick with simple basic editing to ensure I get the point across, it’s not a movie so I’m not going to treat it like one. My audience is after a detailed tutorial/report on how to do a specific thing and I’m going to get that across to them without bombarding them with flashing and fading effects throughout the video which is unnecessary. I will however be including tracking pictures in my video, tracking as such where I’ll be placing a water mark at the bottom right hand corner of my video to let them know who’s commentating over the video.

The sound will however have some slight adjustments to it, due to me reading out a script I can sometimes find it difficult to not screw up or let it go the way I initially wanted it to go so there will be some parts where I’ll cut it out and start fresh, to make it sound not as obvious I will fade out the sound clips and fade it back in softly with a certain editing tool so it doesn't seem as annoying, also towards the end of the video I shall fade out the volume as well as the video to give it that soothing away feeling when the video comes to an end. This hopefully won’t bother my audience as much and I hope that the video will grab their full attention more to the mistakes I make with the audio. Another point to consider is my voice over the in-game sounds, I’m going to eliminate all in-game sounds on this video just because I don’t think it’s important as I’m going to be guiding people through the video anyway they’re not really necessary, my voice will be overpowering it anyway so that’s the important part.

The camera shots on the other hand are based on the in-game capture, I will on the odd occasion rotate the screen on a different angle to show the viewers something that probably can only be looked at on that specific angle, however if it’s not necessary then I won’t bother, there’s no need to add fancy camera angles to something like that, like I said I’m just trying to get the point across to my target audience on the topic they wish to hear about not edit a video to professional standards. Getting down to basics will hopefully attract a more wider audience because they don’t want to be watching someone playing the game all day and going on about something they just want to watch the video, learn something quick, and get back to playing the game. This Is why I believe I’ll attract a more wider audience than someone who would spend too much time editing their video above basic standards and brag on about pointless things.

The lighting isn't going to be an issue, as I won’t be recording myself in person there’s no need to go into detail about it, it’s all in-game recording with a voice over commentary so the only lighting will be in-game and I’ll be recording both in-game and night time sequences just to mix it up a little no reason really, however I do believe adding a fade out effect at the end of the video will make it look slightly more interesting so I might as well include it.

·         Visual imagery How will you use pictures, positioning of images, colour, iconography, captions, fonts and graphics to target your desired audience?

My pictures and positioning of my images such as my watermark will be out of the way of the video mostly because it’s not of much importance, it’s there solely to mark that it’s my video, the colour however I've chosen because of the background colour, I've chosen white because it stands out from the current background colour which is what’s mainly on screen that’s dark such as the concrete in-game. Picking this colour will make sure it’s easier to read the picture than something that would be of similar colour to the background making it much more difficult to understand what the picture is or even means.

The font I've used is rather impressive, I’m going to be using a stylish font which can be downloaded from a website that specializes in font design which is www.dafont.com, the font I've chosen also comes with a picture of wings that can be entered at the start of ending of a text, so I’ll place my name ‘GTA DIMO’ in the middle and at each side I can place a wing which will easily turn it into an icon, so I've manage to save resource time by not needing to create a separate graphic but re-use one that’s free and available for everyone online. I also think this will attract the audience more because it’s a rather fancy logo.

Captions won’t really be necessary for my video, if I do however make a mistake in my video and only notice it later on I will add a caption If I believe it’s necessary, I do believe this will look un professional and will probably make some of my audience fall due to it being tacky and not well thought through.

Modes of address How will the content you select and the language you use target your desired audience?

To target my desired audience in terms of content in my video I’ll mainly be adding basic features such as a professional modern personal logo/watermark in my video I didn't really aim it towards any specific gender as I believe both should be equal and I don’t aim to hit any specific gender in my videos as it’s for all genders. But I do believe if I were to hit a specific gender audience such as female for example I’d be driving around in a pink car and using fancy intros with some music probably, but I don’t like to be sexist so I like to keep it equal for both genders.

The language however will be formal, I won’t be incorporating much swearing in my video if I can help it, I’ll only be using mild language such as ‘idiot’ or ‘moron’ which doesn't seem to be as offensive to the general public as something much more extreme, I wouldn't say I’m doing this for a purpose because of the age rating because that would be silly as the games age rating is 18+ anyway so younger people shouldn't be watching a video and expecting no swearing involved as the games content actually contains swearing, but for this video like I said I muted the in-game music/sound and it’s just me talking over. I’m mainly just going to be talking in a normal toned voice to act sensible and mature and to just get my message across and probably incorporate some slight humor or sarcasm in my voice to make it slightly less boring.
